Chapter 23

ONLY A SMALL STEP LEFT

The Guardian Angels had been unable to hold the upper reaches of the First Heaven and had been holding their ground as best they could. When Luciferael himself arrived in the First Heaven, his presence brought along with it a momentum that propelled the attacking rebel Angels ever forward. The rebel legions were all formed up and ready for the command to make the final attack. Beelzebael had been leading the legions but Luciferael felt that his personal presence would be enough to overwhelm the loyal Angels. The rebel army would defeat the loyal Angels much faster with him personally leading the attack. The Guardian Angels had already begun to fold their positions as the day had progressed. Now they were relying on makeshift defenses at the gateway to the Earth to stop the rebel Angels’ onslaughts. With Luciferael’s presence at the head of the legions in the First Heaven, all it took was his leading the main charge and blaring the horn himself for their makeshift defenses to crumble.

The rest of the Guardian Angels routed in a panic to get out of the First Heaven and onto the Earth, still hoping that they had bought enough time for Michael and his forces to construct defenses on Earth strong enough to stop Luciferael's advance. In the midst of the confusion of the rout, a band of loyal Angels broke off and made a fast escape unnoticed, headed towards the interior of the First Heaven – right towards the Garden of Eden.

Gaardrael led this band of loyal Guardian Angels directly to the pyramid in the Garden of Eden, where they took up defensive positions within the structure. He knew that the pyramids were important and wanted to do his best to keep all of them out of Luciferael’s clutches.

The bulk of the invading rebel Angels passed by the pyramid, as they were not concerned with it at the moment; there would be plenty of time later to deal with stragglers when clearing out the pyramid and the rest of the First Heaven. Gaardrael and his band were safe for now. The rebel legions were more concerned with driving the major force of the Guardians out of the Heaven altogether and getting into position for the rebel attacks upon the Earth to follow. Gaardrael and his loyal Guardian Angels quickly put themselves into positions guarding the portal passageways, but they knew they could not hold long without real weapons, or more reinforcements.

Beelzebael's legion had broken through the defenses of loyal forces with Beelzebael and Luciferael at the head of the legion, and they found themselves in the upper skies of the Earth. Luciferael held the legions back, as he wanted to relish this moment. He had succeeded in his rebellion and was now the conqueror of all of the Almighty's Heavens. It was late in the day and his rebel forces had fought well. Luciferael felt it would be good to take a breather from the fighting.

Luciferael was extremely confident.
